PET PORTRAIT COMMISSIONS
STEP 1: CHOOSE YOUR SIZE
Choose the size that you would like your pet portrait to be. Keep in mind certain sizes will be too small to do multiple pets or a full body piece. The price list has a guide for the best sizes for your portrait. I offer custom sizes on request so if you do not see the size you are looking for let me know and I can create a tailored quote to your request.
STEP 2: SELECT YOUR PHOTOS
I cannot stress enough how important good quality photos are. The main rule of thumb is “the better the photo, the better the portrait”- have a look at my photo guide for some helpful tips on how to take a great photo. If this is for a beloved pet that has passed away- I understand you cannot take any other photos, and so I ask you to send multiple in order to see your pets features and personality.
I work from one main photo for each animals pose and can use others for details to truly capture your pet. If commissioning artwork depicting more than one animal in a piece it is very helpful to see a group photo of the pets in order to judge the size relationships between each other. For the actual painting however, individual photos are often combined to get the best picture/pose of each pet. Don't stress if you can't get them to pose together!
STEP 3: CONTACT ME
Once you have selected your photos and decided which size you would like please contact me with your request, and attach your photos in the email. If you have any specific deadlines, such as a birthday or anniversary, please include that information as well. I typically have a waiting list but am happy to move around my schedule to fit in a special occasion if possible.
STEP 4: PAYMENT INFORMATION
Once you have sent over your photos and we have determined the details for your portrait a deposit is required in order to begin. Please read my terms and conditions and then 50% of the full amount is collected prior to starting the artwork. The remaining balance and shipping is due upon completion of your portrait. Payments can be made securely online by bank transfer, via Paypal or Venmo.
STEP 5: PORTRAIT COMPLETION
Each pet portrait painting is photographed and emailed to the client for approval. At this stage I may be able to make minor adjustments if needed. Upon full satisfaction of the finished portrait you will be invoiced for the final balance payment, which must be paid within 7 days of completion. Once paid in full your portrait will be securely packaged and shipped to your door!
*As I create I often post “progress” pictures on my Instagram and Facebook accounts. Please let me know if this is a gift so I don’t spoil the surprise!
STEP 6: OPTIONAL FRAMING
All my custom pet portraits are provided unframed with an unfinished edge. For an additional charge I will finish (paint in the background style) the edges of your canvas and ship ready to hang with necessary hardware. I also work with an amazing framer and offer framing service upon request. If you are interested in having your portrait completed with framing and ready to hang upon arrival please contact me for further information.
