For this short series, titled “Crystals”, I matched the personalities and aura of women with the traits a crystal possesses. Piper, my model for this piece, was in a powerful transitional period in her life during the making of this painting. When I was with her one day, she was wearing a moldavite ring which accidentally broke while helping me carry something. She immediately started crying and I went over to console her; I didn’t realize how much this ring meant to her. She hugged me and told me she was crying happy tears because when moldavite breaks, this powerful crystal signifies a huge transformation and healing in your life. Immediately I knew I needed to paint Piper as the moldavite crystal. And with real moldavite crystals resined into the painting, the powerful spiritual energy of this crystal radiates off of the piece and promotes growth and enlightenment to those around it.

Moldavite is an extremely rare and captivating tektite, formed from the intense heat and pressure of a meteorite impact around 15 million years ago in what is now the Czech Republic. Metaphysically, moldavite is believed to possess powerful energetic properties, often associated with spiritual transformation, psychic awakening, and cosmic connection. Some enthusiasts consider it a stone of rapid personal evolution and enlightenment, facilitating profound shifts in consciousness and spiritual growth. Moldavite's energy is often described as intense and electrifying, resonating with the heart chakra and promoting healing on a deep emotional level.
