Venus, the goddess of beauty and love is one of the most recognized symbols of femininity in art history. For this piece I wanted to reimagine the classical painting The Birth of Venus by blending Renaissance artistry with modern cultural themes. “I Can Be Your Woman” is a song by Doja Cat that is recognized as a modern day anthem for women. This juxtaposition highlights the evolving perception of femininity—where women are still admired for their beauty and sensuality but are also reclaiming their narratives in a modern world. By fusing classical art with contemporary music, the piece challenges traditional ideals, asking viewers to consider how women navigate both historical expectations and newfound empowerment in today’s society.
