About
"Art was a means of communicating without speaking when I was young and painfully shy. Figurative elements have always found their way into my work..." -Shannon Kay
Shannon Kay is a contemporary artist known for powerful, feminine-driven work that blends precision, emotion, and presence. Through multiple mediums, she creates bold, intentional pieces designed to command attention and leave a lasting impression.
Originally trained as a photographer, Shannon earned a BFA in Photography and first made her mark in Texas before relocating to Tampa Bay, Florida. Her artistic journey took a transformative turn in 2020 when she discovered a profound love for painting. Seamlessly merging the compositional eye and technical skill honed through years behind the lens with the expressive freedom of the brush, Shannon now works fluidly across photography, oil, acrylic, and charcoal.
Deeply drawn to the female form, she infuses each piece with raw emotion and spirit, capturing strength, vulnerability, and quiet power. Every reference photograph she uses is her own, ensuring her work remains an authentic and personal reflection of her vision and soul.
The result is art that resonates on both a visceral and emotional level — confident, unapologetic, and distinctly feminine.
